Bearings for screw drives
Axial angular contact ball bearings are precision bearings designed for the support of screw drives. Depending on the series, they can accommodate radial loads as well as high axial loads in one or both directions. The inner ring is matched to the ball and cage assemblies and the outer ring, allowing the bearings to be preloaded axially to a defined value. Contact seals protect the rolling elements against contamination and moisture. Gap seals are available for higher speeds. These bearings are available with or without fixing holes in the outer ring. Bearings with holes are screwed directly to the adjacent structure. This solution is particularly economical, as it eliminates the need for the otherwise required housing bore and bearing cover, together with the associated fitting work. For applications in handling systems, woodworking machinery and transport screw drives, a lower bearing arrangement precision is often sufficient. For such cases, designs with reduced tolerances are available.
Double-direction axial angular contact ball bearings are non-self-retaining precision bearings with restricted tolerances to accuracy class SP. They consist of solid shaft washers, a spacer ring, a housing washer, and ball and cage assemblies with solid brass cages. The bearing components are matched to each other and can be mounted separately, but they must not be interchanged with those of bearings of the same size.
High axial load capacity
The contact angle is 60°. As a result, these highly rigid axial angular contact ball bearings can support high axial loads in both directions. Double-direction precision bearings are therefore particularly suitable for supporting precision spindles in machine tools. In such arrangements, the axial angular contact ball bearing is positioned alongside a double-row cylindrical roller bearing with a tapered bore, which carries the radial loads.
