Spherical roller bearings are double-row, self-retaining units consisting of solid outer rings with a spherical raceway, solid inner rings, and barrel rollers with cages. The inner rings have cylindrical or tapered bores. The symmetrical barrel rollers align freely on the spherical outer ring raceway. This design compensates for shaft deflections and misalignment errors of the bearing seats.
Spherical roller bearings of all designs are available with inner rings having a cylindrical bore.
Spherical roller bearings, except for series 233..-A, are also available with inner rings having a tapered bore. Bearings with the suffix K have a bore taper of 1:12; bearings of series 240 and 241 have a bore taper of 1:30 and the suffix K30.
Spherical roller bearings with tapered bores are also supplied with an adapter sleeve, locknut, and locking device or with a withdrawal sleeve. Adapter and withdrawal sleeves must be ordered separately from the bearing.
