Tapered bushings are suitable when bearings with tapered bores are mounted on cylindrical shafts. They do not require additional securing on the shaft. On smooth shafts, the bearings can be positioned at any point.
When tapered bushings with a support ring are used on stepped shafts, the bearings can be axially fixed precisely. This also simplifies the removal of the bearings.
Tapered bushings consist of slotted steel sleeves, nut collars, and locking plates. For larger dimensions, locking clamps are used instead of locking plates.
